Do you want to help caregiving families in your community?
We have several opportunities to help you support family caregivers:
Become a Board Member!
Help shepherd the TRC into the future and positively change the lives of family caregivers across the state. The Tennessee Respite Coalition (TRC) is looking for volunteers for its committees and board of directors to support our mission. This is a great time to lend your energy and expertise to the TRC as it is growing and positively changing the lives of family caregivers. We need your skills to shepherd the organization into the next phase. Committee members are needed for the following areas: Marketing/PR, Fundraising, Finance, and Program Review. Committee members typically spend 2-4 hours per month volunteering. Board members can expect to volunteer 2-5 hours per month, attend events, and donate financially in a meaningful way (personally defined). Our ideal volunteer has a genuine interest in supporting families caring for loved ones with special needs. For more information, contact the executive director, Jennifer Abernathy 269-8687 jennifer.abernathy@tnrespite.org or Jesus Cisneros, Board President, 438-5538 utmgrad02@gmail.com.
Become a Respite Volunteer
Give the gift of time. By volunteering as a Respite Volunteer with the Tennessee Respite Coalition you will provide companionship and assistance to individuals in frail and vulnerable states. Your service may be with an individual of any age range with a number of diagnosis’s. By volunteering 5-10 hours a week in a private residence you will enable caregivers of frail individuals to take a much needed break and allow them to focus on their needs for a change. Activities may include playing cards with, reading to, watching television with and just providing overall companionship to frail individuals in need.
When you volunteer, you’re not just helping others-you are helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
Become a Senior Companion
• Are you over 55 years of age?
• Can you volunteer 20-40 hours per week?
• Do you have a limited income?
If you answered yes to all of these questions, you may be able to become a Senior Companion Volunteer. You would be volunteering in someone’s home to be a companion to a senior while providing respite to a family caregiver.
Please complete the following form or contact the TRC office at 888-579-3754 to apply for any of these volunteer opportunities!
